Fifth Post

Hello and welcome back. Happy New Year. I know, its Jan 28th, and saying 'Happy New Year' this close to February is tantamount to rude, but I am really struggling with the social and psychological weight of having a blog to call my own, given my previously stated distrust of the internet (please refer to First, Second, Third and Fourth Post).

My friend Deb said I should update though, and so here I am. 2013 is progressing along much the same path as 2012, except I don't have the Olympics to look forward to. Not that I was particularly looking forward to the Olympics, but I did really enjoy watching them, and so from the comfy and not-possible-to-prove-otherwise seat of January 2013 I can safely claim to have been really looking forward to them this time last year. Everyone is a year older than this time last year, which I understand is perfectly normal. When you get to my age, a year is kind of a big deal, in relation to things you want to get done. I want to do loads of exciting stuff, professionally and metaphorically, but I am another year down without really having accomplished anything. Except for that incident with the inflatable penguin, the large slab of Tesco uncooked puff pastry and a copy of Norman Mailers 'American Life'. Yikes, won't forget that in a hurry.

Of course, I just made up those three unrelated items, and I did nothing in 2012 that involved any of those things in the same place. I was photographed with a large inflatable penguin once though, and I have read the Mailer book, and am lead to believe that Tesco Puff is the best mass produced pastry-based baking product on the market. So.

Hey, I reckon Fifth Post might be my best yet. I am a fan of Four, but Five might pip it, thusly mirroring the Fast and Furious movies. One - a good solid start.  2 - a crazy, entertaining action post. 3 - a bit of a dip in quality but a still a solid entry with some flashes of brilliance. 4 - back to the best, cracking dialogue and action - but 5. Wow. 5 really takes everything you know about blog posts to a whole new level of insanity.  I know, lets all have a vote and you can let me know.

Incidentally, I don't feel like I have to defend my love of the Fast and Furious movies. If you disagree you are, fundamentally, dead inside.

I am not into football, cricket or anything involving boats. I avoid rap music. I never eat food that contains okra and I never see films that have a colon in the title. I am not a fan of biographical films that make the subject more sympathetic than they actually were. I have an extreme allergy to cats and thus wish ill on every single one.  I do not discuss Game of Thrones unless the person I am talking to has read the books first. I am continually surprised that some people really don’t like Leonard Cohen. I dislike The Bullingdon Club and The Sun newspaper.  I am suspicious of young people. I hate it when TV journalists report on location hours after the event has finished, and the continual misuse of the word ‘pandemic’. People who stop at the top of busy escalators to extend a luggage handle need education, not punishment.  I have a recurring nightmare where I am sharing a stage with Cheryl Cole and I am the only one singing live.

I do not like lottery-based ticket allocation systems and golden circle areas at festivals.  The standard Nokia text message alert used to annoy me, but now I miss it a little bit.
